Debate Workbench is made by one person who competes in the activity it is for. If something is wrong, writing about it is genuinely the fastest way to get it fixed.
Report a problem
Email michaelwpphillips10@gmail.com. What helps most: what you were doing, what happened instead, and which event and speech you were in. If it happened at a tournament, say which round — those get looked at first.
The small button at the left of the app's top bar — about in the app, beta on the web — opens the same address with a message already started for you.
Where your work lives
Everything is stored on your own device. There are no accounts, nothing is uploaded, and nobody else can see your prep — which also means nobody else can recover it for you.
Back up from Settings and keep the file somewhere else. Deleting the app deletes its storage with it. A backup is a single file you can send to yourself, and restoring it puts the whole workspace back.
Getting your prep out
Speeches export as .docx, so a card cut here opens in Word with its underlining and highlighting intact. The whole workspace exports as a backup file from Settings. Nothing here is a trap: your evidence leaves in formats other people can read.
Common things
An import came in wrong. Imports are read through a format profile, which is what tells the app that underline means the cut and highlight means what you read. If a document was cut in a different style, adjust the profile in Settings and import it again.
My prep is not on my other device. There is no sync yet. Move a backup file across by hand for now.
Marking on a phone. Tap the first and last word of a phrase, then tap Cut, Read or Bold. Drag either blue handle to move an edge one character at a time.
Privacy
